Deputy Premier: Competitive technologies are a priority for economic  growth

ArmInfo. The implementation of the draft agreement "On Free Trade in Services, Establishment, Activities and Investments" will become an important factor in the  growth of the national economies of the CIS member states. Deputy  Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated this on October 28 at  a meeting of the CIS heads of government in Astana.

As the press service of the RA government reports, according to the  Deputy Prime Minister,  in order to achieve a tangible result in the  near future, Armenia is ready for a productive dialogue in this  direction.

The establishment and development of high, science-intensive and  competitive technologies is a priority for ensuring economic growth.  At the same time, the development and implementation of technological  development projects are of central importance.

"I am sure that the consistent implementation of high-tech projects  will give a tangible economic effect and will help increase the  competitiveness of national economies. The integration of scientific  potential, the deepening and expansion of traditional ties in this  area and the interaction of the CIS countries in scientific,  technical and innovative fields can play the role of an additional  booster in ensuring technological development," the Deputy Premier  said.

He also stated that digitalization, innovations and the latest  technologies are considered by the Government of the Republic of  Armenia as the most important tools for creating an effective public  administration system, ensuring a favorable business climate and  advancing economic growth.

"The only valid fundamental document in the field of science and  technology within the framework of the CIS is the Agreement "On the  Creation of a Common Scientific and Technical Space of the  Commonwealth Member States" dated November 3, 1995.

In this regard, it seems appropriate to think about the development  of a document that will take into account new technological  challenges, as well as the best world practices in the scientific,  technical and technological sector, which will allow the economies of  the CIS member states to reach a new competitive level. In this  context, we support the adoption of the Concept of Scientific,  Technical and Technological Cooperation of the CIS Member States and  the Action Plan for its implementation, which will positively affect  the development within the Commonwealth of an integral interstate  scientific and technological space capable of meeting the growing  socio-economic needs of the population, and also to face modern  technological challenges".
