
ArmInfo.A common aviation area will operate between Armenia and the countries of the European Union. The Commission on Economic Affairs, RA National Assembly, at its meeting on November 9 approved the draft agreement submitted by Armenia's government.
Armenia's Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan said that Armenia and the EU member-states signed a relevant agreement in Brussels, on November 15, 2021, to form a common aviation area and ensure availability of markets following equal competition principles, without any discrimination. The agreement will allow the parties to expand their air communication, including by means of transparent agreements between airlines. The document is an important component of Armenia adopting European standards of security system development. Ratification of the agreement will enable Yerevan to intensify its trade and economic relations the EU, which will boost investment and tourism. Mr Terteryan pointed out a 3-year-long transition period, which is required for adoption of over 60 legal acts in conformity with European standards to ensure Armenia's more effective integration into the European aviation system.
