ArmInfo. Armenia is extending restrictions on the import of cement and clinker for six months more, according to a decision Armenia's Cabinet made on Thursday.
The restrictions were approved on January 13, 2022, and extended until January 15, 2023.
The restrictions created favorable conditions for Armenia's producers. Specifically, last January-October, cement output totaled 803.5 thousand tons - a 14.5% increase. However, the demand exceeded the supply and, given the construction volume in Armenia, the cement import tax was reduced from 14,000 to 2,000 per ton.
The government continues promoting domestic production, and Armenia's Ministry of Economy is extending the licensing for imported cement until July 16, 2023.
