Central Bank: Volume of deposits of non-residents in Armenian banks  almost doubled in 2022

And deposits in Armenian banks increased by 43%. Chairman  of the Central Bank of Armenia MartIn Galstyan announced this during  a press conference on January 31.

"The deposit portfolio of the banking sector as of December 31, 2022  In figures, looks like this: the volume of residents' deposits  amounted to 3370 billion drams, with a y-o-y growth of 29.4%, and  non-residents - 1287 billion drams, with a y-o-y growth of 96.3% ",   Galstyan specified.  The increase in accounts and deposits in  Armenian banks was provoked by a huge influx of immigrants to  Armenia, mainly from Russia, where, due to the war in Ukraine and the  large-scale and unprecedented anti- Russian sanctions by the  collective West (including disconnection from S.W.I.F.T. , withdrawal  from the Russian Federation of Visa and MasterCard payment systems,  partial blocking of international social networks) banking operations  and other payments were greatly hindered.  According to the Express  Ranking of Armenian Banks as of December 31, 2022, prepared by  ArmInfo, credit investments and other loans amounted to 4.168  trillion drams ($10.6 billion), and liabilities to customers amounted  to 4.987 trillion drams ($12.7 billion). The banking sector closed  2022 with a net profit of 263 billion drams ($668 million), 3-fold  increasing this figure.
