Armenia`s IT sector records growth of over 50% in 2022

ArmInfo. The development of digital economy has remained one of the top priorities for Armenia, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated at the Digital Almaty:  digital partnership in new reality.

Armenia's turnover in the IT sector grew over 50% in 2022 and the  development of the digital economy is a priority for the government,  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the Digital Almaty Awards  international forum in Kazakhstan.

In his remarks the Armenian PM noted that the issue of developing a  single digital space in the Eurasian Integration territory still  remains an important objective.

"The development of digital economy has been and remains one of the  most important priorities for Armenia. In 2022, Armenia's turnover in  the IT sector grew more than 50%," PM Pashinyan said.

The Armenian PM said that the government is providing assistance to  the IT businesses and over 1000 startups received significant tax  privileges in 2022.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan noted that the issue of developing a  single digital space in the Eurasian Integration territory still  remains an important objective. In this context he mentioned the  relevance and big demand for creating and developing instruments of  interstate information exchange and digital projects with integration  effect.

"One of the foundations of the digital agenda of the (EEU) Union must  be the widespread use of regulatory sandboxes," the Armenian PM said,  adding that this will enable to save time and increase quality of  projects.

PM Pashinyan said that the events of recent years showed that  modern-day challenges can negatively change the usual course of life  in a split second if joint measures aren't taken. He said that no  country can withstand global challenges on its own. The COVID-19  pandemic clearly showed this. Digital mechanisms are being more  broadly used for overcoming the consequences of both the pandemic and  possible similar crises in the future.

"In this context I'd like to mention that international and regional  cooperation is one of the most important tools to reach the goals of  Armenia's sustainable digital development. The government of Armenia  is cooperating in the interstate level, is actively cooperating with  the private sector and international organizations to find new  digital solutions," the PM said.

He mentioned that approximately 60,000 people have used the Work in  the EEU application in Armenia, where the national e-request portal  is available on the app. The total number of applications surpassed  300,000.
