ArmInfo. In 2023, the Armenian government will allocate 1 billion dram for the development of tourism, instead of the "traditional" annual 200 million, Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerorbyan said answering questions from parliamentarians during a government hour.
In particular, he noted that the funds will be used to organize numerous study visits, various marketing campaigns, publications in international publications, holding festivals, etc.
"This entire marketing plan is aimed at increasing the flow of tourists to Armenia," the minister stressed. Kerobyan also said that in addition to increasing funding, it is also planned to improve the quality of services provided in the sector. In this regard, he recalled that a new law on tourism has been developed, which has already been submitted to the RA National Assembly.
The minister also recalled the large investments in infrastructure projects, which are indicated in the government's program. He explained that the funds are planned to be invested in the development of 20 tourism clusters, including in Areni, Jermuk, Goris, Gyumri and other communities.
According to the Committee on Tourism, in 2022, 1.67 million tourists visited Armenia, which 2-fold exceeds the figure of a year ago.
