ArmInfo.External shocks have become an incentive to strengthen integration into the EAEU. This was stated by Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC Sergey Glazyev at the parliamentary hearings of the State Duma on the priorities of the Russian chairmanship in the EAEU in 2023.
He stressed that in 2022 the share of intertrade in the EAEU increased by 14% by 2021 and by one third by 2020. "That is, the worse the situation outside, the more incentives there are to strengthen integration and expand intertrade, combine competitive advantages, use the common economic space to adapt to external shocks," he stressed.
At the same time, the minister noted that a fundamental change has taken place in trade structure, in particular, the role of the European Union has been drastically reduced. At the same time, as Glazyev noted, there is an explosive growth in trade with eastern and southern partners. "China has become our main trading partner, the volume of trade with which has approached $ 220 billion, the share with India has tripled, the share of trade with Iran and Turkey has sharply increased," he said.
