ArmInfo.Subvention programmes start playing an essential role in Armenia's infrastructure development, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan stated in Parliament on Thursday.
Every year, Armenia's government amends the programmes in the context of priorities. For example, the public sector's share in kindergarten construction and renovation programmes has reached 70%, with that of local authorities being 30%. The public sector's share in similar programmes in Armenia's border communities is 85%. Among the priorities are irrigation system construction and renovation programmes, with the public sector's share being 65%.
A total of AMD 6bln were allocated for subvention programmes in 2019, with this amount brought up to AMD 36.6bln last year. "At its meeting tomorrow the Cabinet plans to approve AMD 7.9bln more projects for last year. Thus, the public investments for last year will be brought up to AMD 43-44bln," Mr Sanosyan said.
Last year, a total of AMD 247.75bln were allocated to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure last year, with AMD 235bln utilized (95%). The ministry's main goal is sustainably developing communities and competitive infrastructure. Last year, 13 communities were unified into one, and Armenia has 71 communities now, including Yerevan and Gyumri, with 64 of them being enlarged. E- serves are being organized in communities, with 75 public service offices operating in 59 communities. Armenia's government continues supporting border communities. Last year, AMD 996bln were allocated for this purpose.
