ArmInfo. A plant producing aluminum radiators will soon be put into operation in Armenia, Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said in an interview with the Public TV of Armenia.
"Using local raw material, even secondary raw materials, we will manufacture products with a higher added value, which will enable us to increase the processing industry's share in the GDP," Mr Kerobyan said.
Under the government programme, the processing industry's share in Armenia's GDP is expected to be 15%. Last year, its share was 14%.
Mr Kerobyan recalled the opening of an office of the India-based KGK Group in Armenia. The company is one of the world's leading producers of gems and jewelry. Mr Kerobyan announced a number of industrial projects.
"Our goal is to exceed the government-set targets," he said.
In the first quarter of last year, Armenia's industry recorded a 3.6% growth (up to AMD 556.5bln). The mining industry recorded a 3.2% decline (down to AMD 116.2bln), metal ore mining, a 3.7% decline (down to AMD 112bln). The processing industry recorded a year-on-year growth of 8.1% (up to AMD 339.9bln).
