Retirement pension to be raised in Armenia

Retirement pension to be raised in Armenia

ArmInfo. All retirement pensions  will be raised in Armenia from July 1, Anahit Galstyan, Head of the  Pension Department, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, told  reporters.

To the question that people have a feeling of injustice when they  hear that the government doubles the salaries of the law enforcement  system or judges, and only 3 thousand drams for them, even taking  into account the fact that, according to Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan, there are about 580 thousand and the treasury will not  pull such a burden, Galstyan replied that nowhere in the world wages  and pensions are comparable. At the same time, according to the  representative of the Ministry of Social Labor, the same world  practice says that if you have 33 years of work experience, the  pension should be 40% of the salary.  "Today we are far from 40%,  which forced us to go for the introduction of a mandatory funded  pension system, which will allow the future pensioner to hope for a  decent pension," she said.

"The minimum consumer basket in Armenia today is 79 thousand drams,  and after the upcoming increase, the labor pension will reach about  49 thousand drams. That is, we are approximately 30,000 behind the  consumer basket>, Galstyan said, pointing out that an increase in  pensions and pensions by 1,000 drams for 580,000 beneficiaries will  cost the state treasury about 7 billion drams, and 210 billion are  needed for these 30,000 drams. drams per year. "I think it is obvious  and understandable that at the same time more than 200 billion drams  in terms of spending is unrealistic, because steps should be  justified not only by the desires, but also by the financial and  economic capabilities of the state," Ms Galstyan said.
