Nikol Pashinyan: Over past 5 years, minimum pension in Armenia has  more than doubled

ArmInfo. Today, the minimum  pensions in Armenia will rise to 36 thousand drams (instead of the  previously established AMD 31.6 thousand), which is 99.5% of the  minimum food basket. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on  his Facebook page.

In this regard, he recalled that within the framework of the election  program of the early parliamentary elections in 2021, the ruling  party promised to equate the minimum pension in the country to the  cost of the food basket by 2026.

" This is an unprecedented event in the history of our country," the  prime minister stressed.

He noted that 73,000 pensioners (12%) receive the minimum pension in  the country. In total, the increase will affect another 500,000  pensioners, whose pension today exceeds 36,000 drams.

At the same time, the prime minister recalled that at the time of the  2018 revolution, the minimum pension in Armenia was 16,000 drams.  "Consequently, over the past five years, the minimum pension has more  than doubled," Pashinyan emphasized.
