ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia began to decline, changing the y-o-y dynamics from 13.1% growth to 3.1% decline in Jan-May 2023, amounting to 3,630.3 million kWh. And in May alone, electricity generation decreased by 5.1%, amounting to 590.9 million kWh. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
In particular, in Jan-May 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, TPPs reduced electricity generation by 12.1% - to 1,523.7 million kWh, HPPs - by 21.2% to 677.1 million kWh. At the same time, the Armenian NPP increased the volume by 19.8% to 1,286.8 million kWh.
Wind farms produced 1.2 million kWh electricity during the reporting period, which exceeds the generation of a year ago by 4.2%. Solar power plants produced 141.5 million kWh. electricity, increasing generation in the y-o-y termst by 85%.
