ArmInfo.Innovations and science are not properly used by the Armenian business community. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan during panel discussions within the framework of the Sevan Startup Summit.
"Now we are encouraging large companies to attract highly qualified specialists, as well as to more widely apply innovations and research results in their production process, which will increase the added value of their products," he said.
The minister noted the importance of communication between the state, science and business, adding that the Ministry of Economy supports the idea of developing relations with the scientific community in various industries.
This spring, Vahan Kerobyan stated that a very small percentage of Armenian companies introduce a research and innovation component into their business. In this regard, he said that soon the Ministry will present a program aimed at stimulating innovation in business. The minister noted that in order to ensure this innovation, first of all, it is necessary to create an environment where the rule of law, freedom of speech, and protection of intellectual property will be ensured. Referring to the results of a study conducted together with EU partners, Kerobyan noted that over 90% of Armenian companies are underdeveloped in the context of digitization.
Even IT companies that manufacture digital products have inadequately digitized internal processes. In this context, he stated that it is planned to soon approve a three-stage assistance program for the digital transformation of companies. The head of the department explained that the state intends to subsidize the rental of a specialist who will deal with digital transformation processes and present its advantages and features to companies. In addition, the state will subsidize the investment costs of companies. In case of successful implementation, according to the minister, part of the funds of the enterprise will be able to return through the cashback mechanism.
