ArmInfo. The share of SMEs in Armenia's GDP reached 60%. This was stated by Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan, answering a question from an ArmInfo correspondent, on the sidelines of a press conference held within the framework of the organization of the "Days of Science and Business" in Armenia.
Moreover, just last year the minister the minister spoke about 27-28 percent. When asked what is the reason for such an impressive growth over the year, without specifying, the minister noted that various factors had an impact, including the opening of 12,000 new companies in the country a year earlier. Let's remind that last year the Minister of Economy reported that the department plans to bring the SME indicator in GDP up to 50% in the next 5 years.
According to the minister, 110,000 foreign citizens moved to Armenia in 2022, of which about 60,000 are of Armenian origin.
Mostly they are citizens of the Russian Federation, but there are also immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus. The minister noted that the first migration wave represented the business segment (mainly the IT sector, ed. note), which are either branches or subsidiaries of Western companies, or are closely connected with the Western market. <Therefore, they moved here quickly so the work wouldn't be interrupted >, he stressed.
