We are ready to carry out regular Yerevan-Kapan flights: Pashinyan

ArmInfo."I think we are ready to operate regular Yerevan-Kapan flights," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on August 17 at the Syunik regional administration  before the start of the discussion of the 2022 report on the  activities of the regional governor's office. It should be noted that  Pashinyan flew from Yerevan to Kapan by plane, testing a new air  route.

After getting acquainted with the conditions of the Syunik airport,  the Prime Minister said at the meeting that a representative flight  will be carried out on the occasion of Kapan Day on August 19.

On April 26 this year, at 10:00, a L-410 civil aircraft made a test  flight from the Kapan's Syunik airport in the direction of  Kapan-Yerevan-Kapan. As it was reported then, the Czech L410 aircraft  belongs to the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) charity  foundation. As stated in the statement of the ZCMC, the construction  of the Syunik airport, the acquisition of property and aircraft, the  costs of its maintenance were carried out and are currently being  carried out at the expense of the Zangezur Copper- Molybdenum  Combine.

At the same time, at the end of 2021, in an interview with an ArmInfo  correspondent, head of the Airport Certification and Air Traffic  Management Department of the Civil Aviation Committee (CAC) of the  Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the  Republic of Armenia David Sarukhanyan said that Kapan's Syunik  Airport is completely ready for the flights. , he said. Sarukhanyan also said that at this stage it was  decided to carry out domestic flights in the direction of  Yerevan-Kapan-Yerevan by a 19-seat Czech-made aircraft (L-410 UVP-  E20). When asked whether the use of larger aircraft is expected with  an increase in demand for this flight, the head of the CAC department  noted that it would be quite difficult, given the terrain of the area  and the proximity to the border. In this context, he said that the  airport has 2 parking lots for airplanes and 1 for a helicopter.

On November 11, 2021 the Armenian government decided to allocate 49.5  million drams for general operating expenses, taxes, wages of the  Kapan's Syunik airport.
