Armenia to export confectionery to EU

ArmInfo. Armenia will export confectionery to the EU, the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia  told ArmInfo.

As a result of lengthy negotiations, the European Commission's  Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) included  the Republic of Armenia in the list of third countries authorized by  the European Union.

"This means that composite products made from milk and / or eggs  produced in Armenia (food products containing processed products of  both plant and animal origin) can now be exported to EU countries.

The decision of the European Commission was made on the basis of the  functions of the food safety sector in Armenia, as well as the  results of control," the ministry stressed.

We add that according to the RA Statistical Committee for January-May  2023, Armenia increased the volume of foreign trade with many EU  countries at times (2-3.7 times - Germany, France, Austria, Greece,  Denmark, Finland, Poland, Slovakia) .

So, for example, Germany occupies the 5th position in terms of  foreign trade turnover with Armenia, while gaining a foothold in the  4th position in terms of imports due to a jump by several times,  while the dynamics of exports worsened with entry into recession.  Thus, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Armenia and  Germany in January-May 2023 reached $295 million, with a noticeable  acceleration in annual growth from 35.4% to 92.9%. In particular, the  volume of exports of Armenian goods to Germany amounted to $39.9  million with a deterioration in annual dynamics from 44.8% growth to  14.2% decline, and the volume of imports of goods from Germany - $255  million (4th position) with a sharp acceleration of annual growth  from 31.7% to 2.4 times. As a result, Germany's share in Armenia's  foreign trade turnover remained almost unchanged, moving only from  3.9% to 4% over the year, which was accompanied by an increase in the  share in imports from 4.2% to 5.5% and a decline in the share in  exports from 3. 4% to 1.5%.
