
ArmInfo.Armenia and Iran intend to facilitate mechanisms, including in the field of collecting customs duties on the border of the two countries. This was discussed at today's meeting between Head of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia Rustam Badasyan and Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Secretary of Iran's Free Zones High Council, Hojatollah Abdolmaleki.
According to the press service of the RA SRC, during the meeting the parties discussed a number of issues aimed at further development of bilateral cooperation. In particular, mechanisms were considered aimed at quickly and effectively solving problems arising between the Meghri-Norduz border checkpoints, the possibility of zeroing the duty for trucks entering the country, as well as establishing the process of electronic information exchange. The adviser to the President of Iran stressed the importance of close cooperation between the customs authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the context of promoting mutual trade and increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.
As a result of the discussion, an agreement was reached on the consistent continuation of working meetings in order to record objective results.
In a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the end of last year, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi mentioned that an increase in trade with Armenia up to $3 billion is achievable, although at the end of last year was a little more than $700 million, having increased by 45% over the year.
