ArmInfo. The solution to the problem of gasoline prices in Armenia is rather in a political sense. Economist Aghasi Tavadyan shares a similar point of view. On his Facebook page, he noted that over the year the price of gasoline in the country has increased from 380 drams to 580 drams per liter. The latest increase is due to the devaluation of the dram and the dynamics of the global oil market. The dram was also subject to fluctuations, which led to higher gasoline prices.
Tavadyan noted that the rise in prices for petroleum products in Armenia is also influenced by global factors, such as restrictions on oil production by OPEC+. "Despite low demand, artificial supply restrictions keep prices high. The recent embargo on gasoline exports by Russia also aggravates the situation," the economist said.
He noted that Russia's struggle with the devaluation of the ruble and oil exports led to a shortage of gasoline in the domestic market of the Russian Federation, which also affected the Armenian market. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow, as part of comprehensive assistance to Armenia, has begun supplies of petroleum products to the republic. We are talking about 15 thousand tons of gasoline and 20 thousand tons of diesel fuel. "As it became known from the partners' request, the situation in this area in Armenia is not simple. The country has almost chosen the balance approved for the current year. The autumn-winter period is ahead. Russia's support will be very timely and useful," the message said.
