ArmInfo. In Armenia, the number of labor migrants from India does not exceed 30 thousand people. Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporters during a briefing on November 20, citing official sources.
He noted that in Armenia, Indian citizens are mainly employed in the fields of construction, agriculture and services. "These are mostly unqualified personnel," the minister said, noting that citizens of Uzbekistan and Iran also work in these positions in Armenia.
As for highly qualified personnel, according to the minister, the labor market in Armenia has been replenished with labor migrants (immigrants) from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The minister noted that the department now intends to resolve the issue of employment of forcibly displaced citizens of Artsakh, so that the latter are involved in the economic life of Armenia.
After Azerbaijani aggression on September 19-20, over 106 thousand citizens were forcibly displaced from Artsakh to Armenia.
As previously reported by the Minister of Economy, the number of Russian citizens who moved to Armenia since the beginning of 2022, was about 110 thousand, and from Ukraine - 4-4.5 thousand. The unemployment rate in the country is about 13%.
