ArmInfo. The road through the Upper Lars international checkpoint (Georgian-Russian border) is open only to passenger cars. Customs attache of the RA Embassy in Russia Vahan Hakobyan told ArmInfo correspondent.
"As a result of the work carried out to clear snow, traffic on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta- Stepantsminda-Lars highway of international importance (border with the Russian Federation) has been restored only for passenger vehicles," Hakobyan explained.
Traffic in this area will be carried out through avalanche-proof tunnels. The road remains closed to trucks.
ArmInfo previously reported that the road through Upper Lars was closed to trucks on the morning of November 19 due to unfavorable weather conditions. In the second half of the same day, travel was prohibited for all types of vehicles. According to the RA customs attach‚ at the Russian Embassy, on the afternoon of November 20, more than 850 Armenian heavy trucks were stuck at the Upper Lars.
