Armenia sees opportunities to develop country`s economy in tourism -  Kerobyan

ArmInfo.Armenia sees opportunities in the tourism sector for the development of the country's economy, since we are talking about obtaining serious results with minimal investments. RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan statedon November 30 at a joint meeting with American writer and risk manager of Lebanese origin, Dr. Nassim Taleb.

According to the minister, having invested several million dollars in  this sector, for example, in marketing and awareness, we can ensure a  flow of visits of several hundred million dollars or even 1 billion  dollars.  By adopting this philosophy, Kerobyan noted, the  opportunities for tourism business enterprises increase  significantly. It also encourages market participants to take into  account all the risks under which more than serious investments can  be made without receiving the desired result in return. "It is  necessary to avoid such developments," said the head of the Ministry  of Economy, pointing out security-related challenges among the  problems.

According to the RA Tourism Committee, in October 2023, tourist flows  in the RA exceeded all expectations: Armenia received more than 2  million tourists for the first time this year. "195 thousand tourists  in October are the best statistics in comparison with previous years  (in 2022 - 155 thousand, in 2019 - 192 thousand tourists. As a  result, we have 2 million 50 thousand tourist visits between January  and October," the department notes. According to the data presented  by the department, in January-October, most tourists arrived in  Armenia from Russia (51%), Georgia (10%) and Iran (6%). According to  the National Statistical Committee, the number of foreign tourists  who visited Armenia in January-September 2023, amounted to 1,839,004  against 1,239,394 for the same period in 2022, an increase of 48.4%.   Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan previously forecasted  that the mark of 2 million tourist visits will be surpassed by the  end of the current year
