
ArmInfo.Next year, the Ministry of Economy will launch a program for artificial insemination of cattle, Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told a briefing.
Without disclosing details, the head of the department noted that the program is aimed at improving the genetic potential of cattle in Armenia. Farmers will be offered favorable conditions for switching to artificial insemination of livestock using the semen of high-quality purebred bulls. Thanks to the implementation of the program, according to Kerobyan, productivity in the field will increase significantly over the next 2-3 years.
At the same time, he said that next year work will be carried out to improve the program for creating SMART farms. Today there are 51 of them in the Republic, which, according to the minister, is a small indicator that cannot have a significant impact on the economic state of the industry.
According to statistical data, gross livestock production in Armenia for 9 months of 2023 decreased by 4%, amounting to 278.1 billion drams.
As of January 1, 2023, there were 501,862 animals in Armenia. cattle, which is 10.3% lower than last year.
It is worth noting that according to the Ministry of Economy, 568,622 head of cattle goals were numbered in Armenia this year.
