ArmInfo. The representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, became the new chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). According to the EEC press service, the corresponding decision was made yesterday at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg.
The new members of the commission are Gohar Barseghyan, who took the post of Minister of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the EEC instead of Artak Kamalyan, Valentin Tataritsky, who replaced Viktor Nazarenko as Minister of Technical Regulation, as well as Maxim Ermolovich, appointed Minister of Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation instead of Bakhyt Sultanov, who , in turn, was appointed Minister for Economics and Financial Policy of the EEC.
Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics Sergei Glazyev, Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnev, Minister of Customs Cooperation Eldar Alisherov, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Arzybek Kozhoshev, as well as Minister of Internal Markets, Informatization and Information and Communication Technologies Varos Simonyan retained their posts.
"In accordance with the decision of the SEEC, from January 1, 2024, the Republic of Armenia will preside over the EAEU bodies for a year: the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. According to the agreement on the EAEU, the post of chairman of these bodies is subject to an annual planned rotation in the order of the Russian alphabet. In the outgoing year 2023, all bodies were chaired by the Russian Federation and its representatives," the EEC message notes.
