Vahan Kerobyan: Our goal is to ensure global technology giants`  presence in Armenia

ArmInfo. Within the framework of the working visit to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 in India, the Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan had meetings with the heads of leading international  technology companies. He announced this on his Facebook page.

In particular, he wrote that he met with Senior Vice President,  Enterprise Business at NVIDIA (with a capital of 1.31 trillion). The  interlocutors discussed the prospects for expanding NVIDIA's  activities in Armenia and issues related to artificial intelligence.

In addition, as the minister said, a meeting was held with the  management of Micron Technology, to whom he presented the business  environment and opportunities in our country.

"Our goal is to encourage technology giants to open their  representative offices in Armenia, and for those who are already  working in our market to expand their activities," Kerobyan wrote.

NVIDIA research center was opened in Armen in April 2022.

Nvidia is an American technology company that was founded in 1993 and  develops graphics processors and systems on a chip (SoC). The  company's designs have gained traction in the video game industry,  professional imaging, high-performance computing and the automotive  industry, where Nvidia's on-board computers are used as the basis for  self-driving cars. The company is valued at $700 billion, with an  annual turnover of $26 billion.

Micron Technology is an American multinational corporation known for  its semiconductor products, the main part of which are DRAM and NAND  memory chips, flash memory, SSD drives, and CMOS sensors.  A Forbes  article on the Armenian venture market, which was published at the  end of 2022, states that there are at least 18 innovation centers of  international corporations in Armenia, including Microsoft, SAP,  Cisco, Siemens, EPAM, Nvidia and others.

The Fraser Institute's 2022 Global Economic Freedom Index ranks  Armenia 11th out of 165. StartupBlink international think tank ranked  Armenia's startup ecosystem 16th out of 74 among Eastern European  countries. Yerevan is in 244th place in the list of the 1000 most  developed startup ecosystems in the world.
