Armenia`s government recognizes priority public interest in  territories in Shirak under North-South programme

ArmInfo. On January 11, the Government of Armenia recognized the priority public interest in relation to a number of territories in the Shirak region for the reconstruction of the Lanjik-Gyumri road section and ensuring access to areas along the reconstructed section of the road as part of the North-South - Tranche 3 road corridor investment program.

As part of the investment program of the North-South - Tranche 3 road  corridor, work is being carried out to reconstruct the Lanjik-Gyumri  section of the M1 interstate highway "Yerevan-Gyumri-Georgian  border".  As a result of the reconstruction of this section of the  road, the existing entrances and exits to arable lands and service  facilities passing through a number of settlements in the Shirak  region of the Republic of Armenia were closed, as a result of which  the owners were deprived of the opportunity to use their lands.

To solve the problem and provide approaches to land plots along the  reconstructed road, the necessary design solutions were given, as a  result of which there was a need to alienate additional areas. There  is also the conclusion of the EIA report regarding the North-South  Road Corridor Investment Program - Tranche 3.

Based on the above, in order to ensure the implementation of property  rights of owners of land plots along the Landjik-Gyumri road section  and ensure the normal progress of the Project, it is proposed to  recognize the priority public interest in relation to 127 land plots  located in the settlements of Airenyats, Lusakert, Khorom of the  Artik community and settlements Lanjik, Dzorakap, Maralik, Ani  community, Shirak region, RA.

The project also stipulates that the acquirer of the alienated  property is the Republic of Armenia, on behalf of which the  organization implementing the project, the Road Department  Foundation, will act. The deadline for the start of the alienation  process is proposed to be July 31, 2024.
