ArmInfo. Iran is ready to offer its services in construction of reservoirs in Armenia, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani stated at his meeting with Armenia's Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan.
He noted that Armenia is a rich country in terms of water resources. Iran, as the diplomat emphasized, is one of the ten leading countries in the world in the field of construction of reservoirs and can also be useful to Armenia. The Ambassador was especially interested in what plans the Ministry had regarding the construction of a reservoir.
The Deputy Minister noted that the RA government has presented an extensive program for the construction of reservoirs, and investment programs are also being implemented in the irrigation system.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the RA Water Committee Martiros Nalbandyan, who was present at the meeting, noted that we are talking about the construction of 15 new reservoirs, but projects for the construction of new reservoirs are also being considered. Construction work on 6 out of 15 has already begun, projects on 3 are at the final stage, tenders for construction will be announced by the fall, and 9 are still being studied.
Vache Terteryan noted that the Armenian side is interested in deepening cooperation with Iran in the construction of reservoirs and other areas.
