ArmInfo.On February 8, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared the advantages of building small modular nuclear power plants at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He recalled that during the annual report of the RA Nuclear Safety Committee for 2023, the committee's specialists shared "vital information" that will help in making further decisions on the construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia. In particular, that an accident at a modular station is considered a local incident. "In other words, if an accident occurs, it is not necessary to evacuate residents of nearby communities. This is one of the advantages of this technology," the premier said.
At the same time, Pashinyan noted, the RA authorities continue to study all possible options for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in order to determine the most beneficial proposal in Armenia's interests.
