ArmInfo.Today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, the 4th meeting of the Policy Dialogue of the "GREEN Armenia" Platform was held, dedicated to the discussion of existing problems in the water sector.
According to the press service of the RA government, the head of the EU delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, Country Manager of the World Bank for Armenia Carolin Geginat, and a number of representatives of concerned state institutions, as well as the private sector, scientific institutions and development organizations participated in the meeting.
Welcoming the attendees, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the key importance of sustainable management of water resources for building a green and resilient future, especially emphasizing its importance in the context of climate change and new vulnerabilities emerging as a result. At the same time, from the point of view of effectivly addressing of the existing problems, Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan emphasized the need to review the framework of the current water resources management policy, including with the adoption of new technologies and approaches.
During the discussion, the active involvement of international partners and other stakeholders in the conceptual discussions on the structure and scope of the unified water strategy for serving the financial, technical and knowledge support of the partner structures to the development of the water system was highlighted.
