CBA Governor: Over 11 thousand Artsakh refugees employed in Armenia

ArmInfo.Over 11 thousand Artsakh refugees are employed in Armenia. Governor of the Central  Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan stated  during a press conference on March 12.

He noted that this has a positive effect on the labor market in terms  of expanding aggregate supply.  According to the head of the Central  Bank, all this will help to gradually reduce the imbalance between  supply and demand.

Speaking about labor migrants from Russia and India, Galstyan noted  that there are no sudden movements in Armenia for these 2 categories  of workers that could cause concern.

Notably, after the large-scale Azerbaijani military aggression  against Nagorno Karabakh on September 19, 2023, which was preceded by  a 9-month complete blockade, around 109 thousand Artsakh citizens  were forcibly moved to Armenia.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine (February 24, 2022), around  110 thousand citizens of Russia have migrated from Russia to Armenia.

According to the Central Bank, since the beginning of 2023, a total  of about 16 thousand labor migrants from India have arrived in  Armenia.

According to official statistics, the unemployment rate in Armenia in  2023 was about 12%.
