Syunik governor not familiar with details of residential house  construction project in Shurnukh

ArmInfo. Governor of Syunik region Robert Ghukasyan is not familiar with the details of the  residential house construction project in Shurnukh village (Goris community), where in 2021, more than 10 families were deprived of their housing, which came under the control of Azerbaijan. He stated  on March 28 during a briefing with journalists.

Ghukasyan asked for details to contact the  Urban Development  Committee, which is the customer of the project. In response to  journalists' remark that he is the governor of the region and should  know why couldn't the government build just 10 houses in 3 years,  Ghukasyan noted that in addition to Shurnukh, numerous other  construction projects are being carried out in the country.

Initially, the construction of residential houses in Shurnukh was  supposed to be completed by the end of 2021. On November 25, 2021, at  the government meeting, Armen Gularyan, then chairman of the Urban  Development Committee of Armenia, said that the construction of  residential buildings continues in Shurnukh. "There were some  problems, but now the construction is going on in full swing. We were  there on Saturday, work is underway. We hope that, in accordance with  the deadlines specified in the contract, that is, in the first half  of 2022, the construction of the residential area will be fully  completed," he assured.  The government allocated 1 billion 192  million drams to implement the program. Of these, only 17.8 million  drams have not been spent by the end of 2023. Already on March 7,  2024, the Armenian government decided to allocate additional funds  for the construction of residential houses in Shurnukh in the amount  of 108.5 million drams. Thus, the total amount of government funding  will be about 1.3 billion drams, additional construction work is  planned to be completed by April 1, 2024.
