Armenia, Korea ready to deepen economic cooperation 

ArmInfo.Armenia and Korea are ready to deepen economic cooperation by implementing new programmes,  the RA Ministry of Economy reports referring to a meeting between Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and  Mr Chung Byung-won, Deputy Foreign Minister For Political Affairs of Korea.

According to the source, the parties discussed the prospects for  bilateral economic cooperation, in particular in the areas of  environmental protection, renewable energy, waste management, plastic  recycling, solar and wind energy production, and the green economy.

Gevorg Papoyan introduced the guest to the investment opportunities  of Armenia and the reforms being carried out in the field, the  policies and priorities of the government in the economic sector.  Attaching the importance of economic diversification, the minister  pointed to the need to deepen industry cooperation with Korea. He  also presented the Armenian government's project "Crossroads of  Peace".

According to the RA Statistical Committee, foreign trade turnover  between Armenia and Korea in 2023 increased by 83.5%, amounting to  $193.5 million. At the same time, exports showed a significant  increase (4 times) to $42.9 million, with an increase in import  volumes by 58.9% to $150.6 million.
