Russia bans sugar exports; 28 thousand tons allowed to be exported to  Armenia

Russia is introducing a temporary ban on the export of cane or beet sugar and chemically pure  sucrose, reports the Telegram channel of the Russian government.  The restriction will be in effect until August 31, 2024. It is emphasized that this decision is aimed at maintaining the stability of the domestic food market.

The resolution provides for a number of exceptions. Thus, sugar  supplies will be possible to the EAEU countries in certain volumes.  In particular, it will be allowed to supply 28 thousand tons of sugar  to Armenia, 5 thousand tons to Belarus, 120 thousand tons to  Kazakhstan, and 28.5 thousand tons to Kyrgyzstan.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has been  entrusted with distributing these volumes among participants in  foreign trade activities.
