EU Commissioner: EU will continue to contribute to economic  development of Armenia

ArmInfo. On May 16, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received  EUCommission Executive Vice-Preside,Trade Commissioner Valdis  Dombrovskis.

According to the press service of the RA government, welcoming the  visit of the European Commissioner to Armenia, Pashinyan expressed  satisfaction with the level of Armenia-EU cooperation. He emphasized  the importance of the Armenia-EU-US high-level meeting held in  Brussels on April 5 and the effective implementation of the  agreements reached.

The Prime Minister said that at a meeting on May 16, the RA  government adopted a program of state support for access to housing  for people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh and emphasized  the need for EU assistance in its implementation.

The EU Trade Commissioner emphasized that the EU will continue to  contribute to the economic development of Armenia, including energy,  infrastructure, market diversification, implementation of standards,  improving the business environment and other areas. Valdis  Dombrovskis added that the priorities of economic and investment  programs are being developed jointly with Armenian partners.

The interlocutors also touched upon the process of demarcation of the  border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the RA government "Crossroads  of Peace" project towards unblocking regional transport  infrastructures and its principles, which were agreed on July 15,  2023 in Brussels at a trilateral meeting of the Prime Minister of  Armenia, the President of the European Council and the President  Azerbaijan.  An exchange of views also took place on issues of  ensuring regional security and stability. In this context, the  importance of the activities of the EU civilian mission in Armenia  was noted.
