ArmInfo. Converse Bank began issuing and servicing China UnionPay system cards - UnionPay Gold and UnionPay Platinum. This was noted in a message issued by Converse Bank on May 27.
At this stage, cards for this system can be ordered at Converse Bank branches, but they will also be available to order via the Converse Mobile app soon.
This is another step by Converse Bank aimed at expanding the services offered to individuals. The bank's statement noted: "China Union Pay is one of the fastest growing payment systems in the world. The system's cards are serviced in 183 countries, but UnionPay cards will be of particular interest to people with business and tourism interests in the Chinese and Russian markets."
UnionPay cardholders will be able to take advantage not only of Converse Bank's offers on premium cards, but also of the opportunities provided by this payment system: Preferential discounts at retail outlets around the world; Additional discounts in hotels around the world; Discount on car rental; Access to airport business lounges; Travel insurance; Concierge service.

The bank's message mentions that banks in more than 70 countries have the right to issue UnionPay cards, and as of 2020, 45% of global trade was carried out with cards of this system.
In mid-November 2023, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia gave permission for Acba Bank and Converse Bank to participate in the foreign settlement and payment system UnionPay International (UPI). That same month, the two banks simultaneously announced their intention to begin issuing China UnionPay cards. Notably, Acba Bank has been servicing cards of this system since October 2019, and from May 7, 2024 it began issuing UnionPay Gold and UnionPay Business.
