ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Syunik region of Armenia yesterday, where he got acquainted with the progress of the work carried out in the region on subsidy programs and other projects.
As reported by the press service of the RA government, the Prime Minister's first stop was in the city of Kapan. Nikol Pashinyan got acquainted with the work on cleaning the concrete bed of the Vachagan River, reconstructing the sidewalks from the bridge adjacent to the Kapan Medical Center to the confluence of the Voghji and Vachagan rivers. The completion of construction work is scheduled for July 25 of this year.
Within the framework of the subsidy program, 500 m of the river bed was cleaned and improved, the contract value is 295.2 million drams, of which 174 million drams were provided by the RA government.
In the same community, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the progress of the reconstruction of the building of kindergarten N9 and the improvement of the territory. Construction work is ongoing, completion is expected in the coming months. As a result of the implementation of the project, the community will have an equipped kindergarten for 170 children. The contract value is 295 million drams, of which the state's share is 80% - 236 million drams.
Then the head of government got acquainted with the progress of the modernization of the M-2 Yerevan- Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri-Iranian border highway - from the village of Syunik to Kapan. The length of the highway is 4 km, the cost of the work is 1.404 billion drams, which were allocated from the state budget. Then Nikol Pashinyan was briefed on the progress of the construction of the new Kapan-Chakaten road. The length of the road is 7.5 km, the cost is 1.454 billion drams. The funds were allocated from the state budget. Then the Prime Minister visited the communities of Chakaten, Shikahogh, Srashen, Nerkin Hand, Tsav of the Kapan community, where he met with local residents and got acquainted with their problems. In particular, the issue of establishing an agricultural cooperative, building a drinking water pipeline, repairing roofs, housing construction and other topics was discussed. Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the existing problems are in the focus of the government and they will be given appropriate solutions in accordance with their priority and order.
Among the road construction projects, the head of government got acquainted with the repair work carried out on the 17.2 km long Kapan-Tsav-Meghri section. The cost of the project is 1.046 billion drams, the funds were allocated from the state budget.
Then Nikol Pashinyan was presented with the progress of construction work on the 32-kilometer section of the North-South's Agarak-Kajaran highway. They started in May 2024, and are scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of 2026. The cost of the project is $ 214.4 million, and the construction work is being carried out by two Iranian companies. The Prime Minister, pointing out the importance of this project for the region, stressed the need for high-quality work.
In Kajaran, within the framework of the subsidy program, parks, a sports ground and a playground were reconstructed at a total cost of 240 million drams. The government's share is 50% - 120 million drams. The cost of construction of the sports field on Teryan Street in Kajaran is 45.3 million drams. The Prime Minister got acquainted with the implemented works, talked with the residents, who thanked the Cabinet for the improvement and the conditions created.
Nikol Pashinyan also visited the Kapan football stadium, which will be reconstructed and brought into proper condition, meeting international standards. Recently, the government decided to recognize the stadium area as a priority public interest. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the decision, which will contribute to the development and popularization of football in the city.
The head of government was also presented with the construction works of the M-2 Aghvani-Tatev interstate highway bypassing Upper Khotanan. The length of the road is 11.04 km, the cost of the project is 3.018 billion drams. The funds were allocated from the state budget.
The Prime Minister's last stop was in the village of Shurnukh. There, Nikol Pashinyan attended the drawing of lots among the residents of the community to distribute newly built private houses. As a result of the implementation of the state program, 13 private houses were built for 13 families, including 12 families who lost their homes. They will receive a house and a livestock farm. The cost of the project is 1.21 billion drams. Prime Minister Pashinyan inspected the private houses, got acquainted with the created conditions and congratulated the residents on moving into their houses.
"I want to believe that this region will become a symbol of the new life of Shurnukh, Goris, Syunik and the Republic of Armenia, where all the conditions for life and work have been created. I wish you all good health, have the strength to work and at the same time see the results of this work, get rich and enrich our country," the Prime Minister said.
Nikol Pashinyan touched upon his visits to various settlements of the Syunik region and meetings with residents, emphasizing that they give great energy. The Prime Minister emphasized that he feels support for the peace and demarcation program in all settlements. The Prime Minister stressed that the country is going through a difficult process, but today the republic is stable, independent, sovereign and is increasing the level of its sovereignty and independence every day. All this is happening, first of all, thanks to the understanding and support of the public. "We must step by step, consistently build a real Armenia. This is an Armenia where real people live, where it should be possible to work, get rich and live well," the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia said.
