ArmInfo.At a meeting on June 27, the Government of Armenia introduced changes to the program to ensure affordable housing for residents of the country's border regions.
According to the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan, after the start of the program, social assistance services registered 1,330 applications, of which 1,080 in 2024 alone, with a planned 550 applications. Applications for financing the project were received from Tavush - 109 applications, Syunik - 167, Vayots Dzor - 167, Gegharkunik - 85, Ararat - 106, 850 applications already have mortgage lending agreements.
However, as the minister noted, during the implementation of the project there was a need to conduct research to clarify the details of the program. According to the regulations, on April 1, 2024, these studies were carried out on 603 families, and a number of problems were identified, the solution of which will allow for a more targeted policy. In particular, single parents and widows are also encouraged to take advantage of the program. Beneficiaries of the program can also be spouses with at least one minor child, as well as persons whose total age does not exceed 75 years and a single parent with at least one minor child. All family members of the beneficiary must have RA citizenship.
The list of new beneficiaries will come into force on August 1 of this year.
In the case of mortgage loans provided for the construction of individual residential houses in the villages of Baganis, Berkaber, Kirants and Voskepar in the Tavush region, an additional 5 million drams will be allocated, which will be an additional incentive for the construction of houses in these settlements.
