ArmInfo. Outage-2024 continues at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) CJSC. This was stated in a statement by the CJSC.
According to the source, the Outage is proceeding according to the established schedule and will be completed in the first ten days of August. During this period, measures will be taken to improve the safety of the NPP. In particular, within the framework of the program for the repeated extension of the service life of the second power unit, it is planned to carry out a major overhaul of the reactor plant, a major overhaul of the 3rd turbine and the 3rd turbogenerator, routine repairs of the 4th turbine and the 4th turbogenerator, repair and inspection of metal and mechanical devices, and other activities. In addition to the NPP employees, the current work is also attended by the "Armatom", "Volt Ampere", "IS ENERGY", "PROTERM" companies as well as experienced specialists from Russia, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
After the completion of the Outage-2024, based on a positive expert opinion given as a result of tests and inspections, the 2nd power unit of the ANPP will be connected to the unified energy system of Armenia. The ANPP was stopped for Outage from May 15 for a period of 95 days. During the Outage, it is necessary to refuel the station and begin inspecting the main equipment in order to carry out work on the repeated extension of the service life of the second power unit of the Armenian NPP. On December 14 last year, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decided to allocate $65 million for the implementation of the program for the repeated extension of the service life of the second power unit of the Armenian NPP (until 2036). Work on the implementation of the program is being carried out by Rusatom Service, with which a corresponding agreement has been concluded. The customer of the project will be the Armenian NPP, which will receive state funds in the form of a budget loan. By 2036, it is planned to commission a new nuclear unit, the capacity of which is still being discussed.
