ArmInfo.Chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Competition of the Republic of Armenia Gegham Gevorgyan spoke at a meeting of the intergovernmental group on legislation and policy in the field of consumer protection of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.
According to the press service of the Commission, in his speech Gevorkyan noted that key work is currently being carried out to expand the powers of the department in order to create a more effective and comprehensive system for protecting the interests of consumers in Armenia. In particular, the RA legislation is being brought into line with the standards of the European Union within the framework of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
In this context, the head of the CPEC emphasized the importance of cooperation with international partners: the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Consumer Protection and Law Enforcement Network (ICPEN), of which the Commission became a partner last year, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development to developing legislative provisions in accordance with international best practices for consumer protection.
