ArmInfo. According to the results of the first 5 months, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia returned 64 billion drams to the state treasury, the head of tax and customs department Rustam Badasyan said in an interview with Public Television.
"Summing up the results of at least the last 2 years, we have a clear assessment of how much the SRC, as an administrative body, is able to reduce the <shadow> using its tools. This year, we summed up the results of the first five months and recorded that about 64 billion drams were returned to the state budget," he noted. At the same time, the chief tax officer noted that this figure increased by about 20 billion drams year-on-year.
"If we compare 2023 with 2022, we will record growth again. This means that the dynamics of reducing the "shadow" in the economy in Armenia has continued in recent years. This also means that our capabilities, the improvement of our tools and our investments in IT infrastructure are justified. That is, we begin to see, respond to, and recover from risks more often," noted Rustam Badasyan.
On May 31, at the preliminary hearings of the annual report <On the execution of the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2023> in parliament, head of the State Revenue Committee Rustam Badasyan said that, according to the department's observations, the "shadow" has decreased over the past three years. Thus, in 2023, an assessment was made of the volumes of value added tax, profit tax and income tax for 2022. The State Revenue Committee established that the tax gap is 3.06% of GDP. The indicator, compared to the previous year, improved by 0.5 percentage points, Badasyan noted.
