ArmInfo. The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, part of the World Bank Group, will provide Armenia with a loan of 102 million euros to support the program "Achieving Universal Health Coverage". At a meeting on July 18, the RA Government approved a draft agreement with the Bank for signing.
According to the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Lena Nanushyan, the funds provided are planned to be used to implement the universal health insurance program, as well as to improve the quality of primary health care, ensure the availability of medical services throughout the country, improve the efficiency of government spending in the health sector and reduce financial burden of the population. Loan funds will be provided in separate tranches when the RA government achieves target indicators.
Nanushyan said that work on the agreement lasted about a year. It was finally agreed upon in May of this year. The final deadline for the project is September 20, 2029. The program supports the implementation of the five-year action plan of the Armenian government for 2021-2026, and is part of the "Health System Development Strategy".
