Currently, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia is developing a draft program to support start-ups and small entrepreneurs, which includes 3 components: an event to develop entrepreneurial skills, an event for the development of preferential lending to small businesses and an event for the provision of an umbrella guarantee. This was announced by the Minister of Economy of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan during a meeting with the permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Natia Natsvlishvili, reports the press service of the Department.
During the meeting, the parties discussed how UNDP can support entrepreneurship, small and medium- sized businesses and startups in Armenia. The possibility of implementing joint programs aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs and developing financial literacy skills among youth and women in the regions of Armenia was also touched upon.
The interlocutors also discussed possible UNDP support in the implementation of projects on environmental sustainability, in the areas of renewable energy, waste management and conservation.
Papoyan and Natsvlishvili also talked about the need to develop human resources in the tourism sector, educational and retraining programs. The Minister of Economy expressed hope that the existing effective cooperation with UNDP will continue. He briefly presented the main provisions of the economic block of the government program, the measures envisaged for their implementation and the ongoing reforms.
