ArmInfo. According to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the population of Armenia as of July 1, 2024 reached 3,057.8 million people, increasing by 3.8% or 112.3 thousand people year-on-year (compared to 0.8% growth or 23.2 thousand people a year earlier).
During the reporting period, the population of Yerevan increased by 3.9% or 42.6 thousand people, reaching a total of 1.134 million people. This growth is significantly higher compared to the 1% increase the previous year. As a result, 37.1% of the country's total population is now concentrated in the capital.
According to the source, as of the reporting date, the urban population is over 1,973.4 million people accounting for 64.5% of the total population. This marks an annual growth rate of 5%, compared to 0.6% growth the previous year. In villages, there are 1,084.4 million people, making up 35.5% of the total population. According to statistics, the most densely populated region is Kotayk, where 290.1 thousand people live, followed by two regions near the capital - Armavir (265.5 thousand people) and Ararat (264.8 thousand people). Slightly fewer people reside in Shirak - 241.4 thousand, Lori - 228.6 thousand and Gegharkunik - 215 thousand. Over 100 thousand people were registered in Aragatsotn, Tavush and Syunik during the reporting period (134.5 thousand, 117.5 thousand and 117.2 thousand people). The most sparsely populated region of the country continues to be Vayots Dzor, with only 49.2 thousand people residents.
