ArmInfo.The Eurasian Economic Union has set tariff quotas for the import of specific types of meat and whey in 2025. This information was outlined in a statement by the Eurasian Economic Commission. "In accordance with the Treaty on the EAEU, the EEC sets tariff quotas for certain categories of agricultural goods from third countries and imported into the customs territory of the EAEU. This decision considers the balance between consumption and production in member states, as well as the countries' obligations to the World Trade Organization," stated Vahagn Kazaryan, Director of the Department of Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation of the EEC.
The tariff quotas have been set for 2025 Kazakhstan and Russia according to the amounts specified in the protocols for the accession of states to the WTO. For Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, tariff quotas are determined based on volumes that don't exceed the difference between consumption and production, taking into account the requests of the parties involved. Particularly, the quotas for cattle meat are as follows: Armenia - 9.5 thousand tons, Kazakhstan - 21 thousand tons, Kyrgyzstan - 5 thousand tons, and Russia - 570 thousand tons.
Quotas for pork will be distributed in the following volumes: Armenia - 9.4 thousand tons, Belarus - 20 thousand tons, and Kyrgyzstan - 2 thousand tons. Quotas for poultry meat and by-products will be as follows: Armenia - 35.1 thousand tons, Belarus - 10.9 thousand tons, Kazakhstan - 140 thousand tons, Kyrgyzstan - 58 thousand tons, and Russia - 364 thousand tons. The import quota for whey is set for Armenia at the amount of 0.7 thousand tons, and for Russia - 15 thousand tons.
