ArmInfo. During a press conference on August 29, Tigran Jrbashyan, the head of the Management Advisory Services "Ameria," expressed the opinion that the development of Armenia's demographic structure of Armenia will ultimately lead to a degradation of the qualitative indicators of the human resource.
In particular, he explained that in Armenia, alongside the declining birth rate, there is an aging population. Additionally, when we consider the phenomenon of migration, which takes away valuable resources from the country, then, according to Jrbashyan, this will result in a reduced opportunity to invest in the development of human capital.
"Every year we will be forced to limit the opportunities that we invest in education, technology, healthcare, and productivity," the head of the Service said. Therefore, according to him, it is necessary to focus not on indicators such as birth rate, aging, migration, but on the formation of opportunities for the preservation and development of qualitative indicators of human capital. "This will radically change the whole picture. And if we talk about these topics separately, this will not allow us to assess the full scale of the problem, which is quite large," Jrbashyan emphasized.
To note that according to the RA Statistical Committee, 15,671 children were born in Armenia in the first half of 2024, which is 7.7% lower than the figure for the previous year. The absolute value of natural population growth was 2,460 people, having decreased by 45.4% year-on-year compared to a 2.4-fold increase the year before. At the same time, the migration balance in Armenia continues to be negative. Specifically, in the first half of the year, the negative migration balance was 22,893 thousand people, which decreased by 12% compared to the previous year.
