ArmInfo.On September 10, the National Assembly of Armenia approved the draft law of the Republic of Armenia "On Ratifying the Framework Agreement on the International Solar Alliance Fund." As Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan stated earlier, Armenia's accession to the International Solar Alliance can make a significant contribution to the development of Armenia's renewable energy sector.
"Armenia can become the 98th country to ratify the framework agreement, and Armenia's participation in the Alliance will be quite useful," Vardanyan stated while presenting the document. He added that this will be an important platform for exchanging experiences among the participating countries.
The official signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement "On the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance" by Armenia took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia on November 16, 2023. It was noted that Armenia's accession to the International Solar Alliance is an important step towards combating climate change, developing renewable and green energy resources, and ensuring energy access and security.
The International Solar Alliance was established through the joint efforts of India and France towards working together to combat climate change and harness solar energy resources. The concept of the alliance was developed in 2015. The decision-making body of the Alliance is the Assembly, convened once a year at the level of ministers of the relevant industries from the member states. The Alliance is headquartered in India.
