On the evening of September 10, a powerful explosion occurred in the foundry located within the territory of the TPP. The Investigative Committee has opened a case under Part 2 of Article 355 (violation of labor protection rules or requirements or ensuring safety during construction, mining or other work) of the Criminal Code. It was later revealed that the Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety Inspectorate of Armenia had issued a negative opinion regarding the illegally operated smelter at the Hrazdan TPP, where the explosion took place.
According to the investigation materials, at 16:45 there was an explosion of a compressed air tank. As a result, 6 people, who were employees of the company operating the facility were injured and hospitalized. One of them, a 46-year-old resident of the city of Razdan, died in a medical center without regaining consciousness. Two victims were questioned, but it was not possible to carry out the necessary investigative actions with the other three due to their health condition. Expertise has been ordered. The investigation is ongoing.
