ArmInfo. Most of the wines produced in Armenia more than meet European standards. This was stated by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the UN Global Wine Tourism Conference on September 12.
In response to ArmInfo's question regarding the volume of wine exports this year, Papoyan pointed out that the focus should be on the issue of qualitative, rather than quantitative indicators.
It should be noted that according to the RA Customs Service, Armenia reduced its wine exports by 7% to 4.4 million liters in 2023, while the customs value decreased by 2.8% to $18.3 million. At the same time, the main market for Armenian wine is traditionally the Russian market, with its share increasing from 78.8% in 2022 to 83.2% in 2023. Following with a significant gap are the USA at 5%, France - 1.6%, Belarus - 1.3%, Lithuania, Italy, Belgium (0.9% each), China (0.8%), Georgia, Italy, Poland (0.4% each), and the United Kingdom (0.2%). The remaining volume was exported to Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Greece, Canada, Latvia, Israel, Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Emirates, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic. Quite small volumes (less than 1 thousand liters) fell on Finland, Sweden, Taiwan, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, Austria, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Singapore, Cuba, Uruguay, Malta and Benin.
