Armenia`s military-industrial complex increased its tax payments to  the state budget by 70% in a year

ArmInfo.The military-industrial complex has enormous potential to become one of the most  important segments of the economy. This was stated by the Minister of High-Tech Industry of  Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.  In particular, he reported that from January to August 2024, military-industrial complexe nterprises transferred 6 billion drams in taxes to the state treasury. This amount is 70% higher than the figure for the previous year.

The minister also mentioned that there are currently 60  military-industrial complex companies registered in Armenia,  employing about 2,500 highly qualified specialists. He noted that  a  significant amount of high- quality professional potential is  concentrated in this sector. <If we add consider the direct support  from the state and the investments being made, we have every reason  to believe that this sector could become the most important branch in  the economy>, Hayrapetyan said.

To date, 27 industry companies have signed 52 trilateral agreements  worth 171 billion drams. The minister pointed out that there is a  growing trend in these agreements, thanks to the ongoing reforms in  the sector. In this regard, the minister recalled the development of  a law for the military-industrial complex, aiming to establish clear  rules of the game and regulate legal relations between industry  enterprises, the Military- Industrial Complex Committee and the  Ministry of Defense. Hayrapetyan expressed hope that the law will be  adopted this fall, or at the latest, by the end of the year.
