7.3% increase in Armenia`s agricultural trade with EAEU member-states

ArmInfo. According to customs data, in January-August 2024, the trade turnover of agricultural products of Armenia with the EAEU countries grew by 7.3%, but the infrastructure lags slightly behind this pace.

This was stated on September 30 by Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Arman  Khojoyan during a panel discussion on the topic: "Infrastructure and  logistics in agriculture: modern challenges and solutions" within the  framework of the Eurasian Forum in Yerevan.

Considering that the infrastructure is not at the desired level, the  minister drew attention to the fact that this area can be considered  as one of the possible ones for cooperation within the Union.

At the same time, he said that the Republic of Armenia invests a lot  in the development of infrastructure, in particular, roads. In this  regard, Khojoyan noted that in 2024 the government allocated $ 150  million for major road repairs and about $ 15 million for technical  repairs.

"If we talk about further actions, then it is necessary to speed up  the processes of customs clearance and identification of issued  certificates. This, I think, is the most important thing for us,  especially when it comes to perishable goods," Khojoyan emphasized.

In this vein, he also noted that many projects are being implemented  in Armenia to speed up all these processes.

However, this does not yet apply to Armenian exports of perishable  goods. "And so we would like to cooperate in this area to see how we  can speed up all these processes, identify the issued certificates,"  he concluded.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia,  the trade turnover between Armenia and the EAEU countries in  January-July 2024 amounted to $9.2 billion, which is 2.3 times higher  than the figure for the previous year. At the same time, exports  decreased by 21.2% to $1.7 billion, with imports growing by 4.4 times  to $7.5 billion.
