ArmInfo. The official opening of the largest annual technological event in the region - the DigiTec2024 exhibition and forum - took place in Yerevan. The event is organized by the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE). This year, DigiTec will be held from October 4 to 6 at the Meridian Exhibition Center.
As UATE Executive Director Sargis Karapetyan mentioned earlier, the exhibition is running concurrently with the World Conference on Information Technology (WCIT) to showcase Armenia's entire technological ecosystem to delegations from various countries. He also highlighted that this year's DigiTec stands out from previous years in terms of content and scale. Specifically, he mentioned that the exhibition area, as well as the number of participants and sponsors has doubled.
It is important to note that a special Startup Alley platform has been created within the exhibition. This platform offers startups to present their developments over 100 investors. In addition, the exhibition includes the following areas: TecSquare, for establishing new working relationships and cooperation; DigiTalks, where information on the latest technological trends will be presented; DigiInvest, for participation in discussions on fintech; and TecBalcony, for business VIP meetings. Over 150 speakers are expected to speak at DigiTec, with more than 15 international media outlets in attendance. The number of exhibition participants may exceed 30, 000 people. During the official opening ceremony, the Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan emphasized that for the first time the number of companies participating in DigiTec exceeded 200. In this regard, he expressed hope that the exhibition-forum will gradually become a platform for the international technology sector, where participants can share experiences, demonstrate their developments, innovative solutions, and startups. According to the minister, the current achievements should serve as inspiration for new successes, including generation of new ideas, solutions that will evolve into products, and, as a result, it will be possible to double or even triple the number of participating companies in the coming years. "The future is determined by the economy. However, a knowledge-intensive economy is based on high-tech innovative solutions, stimulating export-oriented industries that focus on exporting finished products rather than raw materials. The best reflection of all this can be found within the framework of the DigiTec exhibition," said Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
